May 10
I have been away from WU this week, and it is time to sit down here and explain another turn and twist in our lives. Unfortunately it doesn't involve our deck project, which suddenly has disappeared from view.
This past Monday evening, after a so-unusual 90 degree day here, my husband's parents and brother stopped by our house to give me a Mother's Day hanging basket, as they would be out of town most of the rest of the week. We visited with them in our driveway for nearly a half hour, and then they left to get some dinner after a long busy day for them. Less than 10 minutes later, their car was broadsided by a city bus, who ran a red light and rammed through an intersection, instantly killing my father-in-law, and nearly five hours later my mother-in-law also died from her injuries. My brother-in-law, who was driving and on the left side of the car, survived with recoverable injuries and is doing okay. Mr. PSP and I, along with our daughter and son-in-law were with my mother-in-law when she died, in the middle of the night, and before she slipped away we were able to speak to her and say "good-bye".
What a week it has been. We are now onto all of the necessary arrangements and there is a lot to do. No one could see this coming, of course, and no one can see how the matter of only a couple of seconds can change everything forever before it does. Life and time are precious, especially considering our time with our loved ones, and in our own lives. It has been tough and just a stunning time for us. My in-laws are known and loved by many around the world, and this is a hard loss for us, but also for so many others who's lives have been touched by them. We will miss them dearly, as they have been so important in my family's lives just "forever". So hard to imagine this could happen, but it did, and with God's strengthening, we are moving along step by step.
